Frequently Asked Questions

We provide professional immigration psychological evaluations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. These evaluations are often required by attorneys to strengthen immigration cases such as VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) petitions, Hardship Waivers (I-601, I-601A, I-751), Asylum applications, and U Visas. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about the process, costs, and benefits of immigration psychological evaluations.

What is an immigration psychological evaluation?

An immigration psychological evaluation is a professional mental health assessment conducted by a licensed therapist. The evaluation provides a detailed written report that documents your mental health, history, and experiences as they relate to your immigration case. This report is designed to support your attorney in demonstrating hardship, trauma, abuse, or psychological impact for immigration proceedings.

What types of immigration cases need psychological evaluations?

We provide evaluations for:

  • VAWA Evaluations (abuse and trauma documentation)

  • Hardship Waiver Evaluations (I-601, I-601A, I-751)

  • Asylum Evaluations (fear of persecution, trauma history)

  • U Visa Evaluations (crime victim support)

Each evaluation is customized to meet the specific requirements of the U.S. immigration system and the needs of your attorney.

How long does an immigration evaluation take?

The evaluation is typically 2–3 hours long. In some cases, it may be completed in one session, or it may be divided into two shorter sessions depending on your comfort and schedule.

What is included in the evaluation?

Our process includes:

  • A comprehensive clinical interview exploring your history, relationships, and current experiences.

  • Symptom and stress assessments using standardized psychological measures.

  • A written immigration psychological report tailored to your case.

  • Collaboration with your immigration attorney to ensure the report addresses the legal standards required.

How much does an immigration psychological evaluation cost?

  • The base fee is $850, which includes the evaluation session and the written report.

  • Payment is divided into three parts: A non-refundable deposit of $125 is due to schedule your evaluation session, $425 is due at the appointment and $300 due before the report is released.

  • If you need a rush report (completed within 5 business days), there is an additional $150 rush fee.

Will insurance cover an immigration evaluation?

Most insurance plans do not cover immigration evaluations because they are considered forensic/legal services, not therapy or treatment. Evaluations are provided on a private pay basis.

Why is an immigration psychological evaluation important?

A well-written immigration psychological report can:

  • Document the emotional and psychological hardship that deportation or separation would cause.

  • Provide credible evidence of abuse in VAWA or U Visa cases.

  • Demonstrate the impact of trauma or persecution in asylum cases.

  • Strengthen your attorney’s ability to advocate for your immigration relief.

Attorneys consistently report that immigration cases with psychological evaluations are more compelling than those without.

How do I prepare for my evaluation?

  • Bring any relevant documents (court papers, medical records, or past evaluations).

  • Be ready to share your personal history and experiences openly.

  • Understand that the process may be emotional, but our clinicians provide a safe and supportive environment.

How soon will my attorney get the report?

Reports are generally completed within 2–3 weeks. If you need the report sooner, you may request the rush service (5 business days) for an additional fee.

Do you work with attorneys?

Yes. We regularly collaborate with immigration attorneys in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, ensuring the evaluation report is legally sound, clinically thorough, and tailored to the needs of the case.
